Dear Dr. Kissinger,
I am very much interested to apply this technique for studying the effect
of one the food component (Piperine, an alkaloid from black peppers) on
the bile components. The compound is reported to increase the excretion
of bile acids and their glucuronides. Considering the fact that it is
widely used food component and is reported to increase the
bioavailability of various drugs, I feel it pertinent o study in detail
its effect on biliary excretion.
During my doctoral work I found that piperine or some of its metabolites
are also excreted in bile. I wish to do further work on this. Is it
possible that I visit your lab and gain some useful experience in the
techniques related to pharmacokinetic studies in rats. I have been doing
work using jugular vein and bile duct canulation techniques. However, I
am interestedinlearning other sophisted techniques like the one you
developed.
