I have a few questions regarding the structure of drug metabolism/PK
companies and would appreciate any input in this regard:
I would like to know if there is any company (large pharma) where the
DMPK dept is structured to support 'development' activities such as
preclinical (pre IND) and Phase I human studies.
I understand that most companies (probably all) have dedicated DMPK
departments to support 'discovery' activities, but am not sure if there
are big pharma companies that have dedicated DMPK depts for preclinical
development.
Thank you in advance.

Hoffman La Roche, JNJ and Boehringer-Ingelheim are companies that comes
to my mind. I guess there is a separate deparment in Pfizer (god knows
how many companies are in there).
Hope this helps.

Krishna,
Roche is structured such that two different DMPK groups are responsible
for Discovery support (screening, selection) and for (early) development
(non-clinical development for all phases; characterization; mechanistic
investigations). The latter group is involved in assessing human
metabolism and performing bioanalytical work for clinical pharmacology
studies as well. With the exception of the studies mentioned, the
Clinical Pharmacology group is fully in charge of human studies.
Hope this helps.
