dear all
does anyone know of a compound which undergoes glucuronide
conjugation in rodents but sulphate conjugation in humans?
many thanks in advance

Nicola:
The beta2-adrenergic agonists salbutamol (albuterol) and
terbutaline tend to be mainly glucuronidated in rodents but are
almost exclusively sulfated in humans.
For example, see:
Martin LE, Hobson JC, Page JA, Harrison C. Metabolic studies of
salbutamol-3H: a new bronchodilator, in rat, rabbit, dog and man.
Eur J Pharmacol. 1971, 15:183-99.
Tegner K, Nilsson HT, Persson CG, Persson K, Ryrfeldt A.
Elimination pathways of terbutaline. Eur J Respir Dis Suppl.
1984;134:93-100.
Note that sulfation in humans of these compounds is
stereoselective. Tom Walle's group and others have published
extensively on this.
