Dear all,Back to the Top
I would appreciate it if you could provide me
1) with a source of information on the physicochemical properties of
glucosamine sulphate and sulphate and chondroitin sulphate.
2) a new simple and rapid pretreatment method for the determination of
chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine sulphate from urine and blood
plasma samples and assay methods (HPLC?) for these compounds.

Dear Dra Elisabete,
This reference could be good for you, despite it was evaluated in rats:

Please, send me your e-mail and i will send the article to you.
I hope this help.

Hello Elisabete,
Chondroitin sulphate (CS) is comercially avaibale as a dry powder and is
available in different types depending upon its source of isolation.
CS-A is
obtained from bovine trachea while CS-C is from shark cartilage. The dry
powder is soluble in water and is stable upon storage at 4 Deg C.
Unfortunately presently available methods for CS measurements in
biological
fluids are not as rapid and simple as one may expect. Determination of
CS in
plasma and urine is an indirect multistep process, which involves its
digestion by enzyme chondroitinase ABC and subsequent detection of
liberated
disaccharides primarily Di0S, Di4S and Di6S, usually after fluorescent
derivatization. Direct UV detection at 230nm can also be used.
