Would you please help me find a web site where I can find the
erythrocyte/plasma ratios of different drugs. I would like to learn if
hemolysis would be an interference factor or a cause of rejection for
blood
samples for drug analysis of certain drugs by HPLC.
Thanks a lot for your help

Dear Sebnem,
I don't think there is a website but I do know that in our labe quite
some work was done in the past to assess the (perceived) effect of
hemolysis. Different percentages of hemolysis were simulated to see
what the visual outcome would be and it was clear that a 1% hemolysis
already colored the plasma bright red. Thus, even if the analyte
binds to ery's in a 10:1 ratio a visually present hemolysis will only
increase the plasma levels by a few %. Moreover, if you have an
strong ery binding drug you will probably have to asses blood
concentrations instead of plasma conc anyway.
