Hi:
Could anybody please help me to get DDEP (3,5-dicarbethoxy-2,6-
dimethyl-4-ethyl-1,4-dihydropyridine), a compound which inactivates
heme and prevents the induction of number of CYPs in vitro. Published
articles say it was synthesized in their own labs. I would be glad if
somebody can tell me the commercial source of this compound or
somebody generously donate a little of this compound for our research
purposes.
Thanks very much.

Hello there,
If no one is able to supply you with any of this I suggest you
synthesise it yourself as generation of those dihydropyridine
derivatives is easy (I managed it). I believe the synthesis of
that particular analogue was first reported by Paul Ortiz de
Montellano's group in 1981 (J.Biol.Chem. 256, 6706-6713). Other
people have reported the synthesis of other 4-alkyl analogues
using much the same method. Many cite the 1965 paper of Loev &
Snader (J.Org.Chem. 30, 1914-1916), and ultimately the Hantzsch
reaction, as the basis. The synthesis is technically easy, high
yield and easy to purify. For the other analogues all you need
is the appropriate aldehyde.
I hope that this helps.
All the very best,
Bernard
