Hi, Group,
Has anyone been able to install ADAPT II on a Linux/Unix platform, or
attempted to do so? It would be great if some pointers on the
installation can be shared.
With my first attempt, I am currently stuck on the following error
message:
C********************************************************************
C ADAPT II *
C Release 4 *
C********************************************************************
Installation Utility for Sun/Solaris
** File bayes.f not found
ADAPT II files unavailable. Cannot proceed with installation.
Any tip or hint is appreciated.

Dear Lu,
I am sorry that I did not install ADAPTII on a Linux/Unix
platform. I also have no experience on Sun or DEC systems.
But I read the 'installadapt' file in the package for Sun.
There are serveral lines for bayes.f
echo " Compiling... bayes.f"
f77 -c -w bayes.f >&! compile.aerr
if ( $status != 0 ) then
echo " ** Compiler error. See file compile.aerr"
exit
endif
There is no such a file in the installation package, so maybe
it is a file in local library on Sun and DEC systems and you install
it on a Linux system.
I do not install ADAPTII on my computer now. I am not sure
whether there is 'bayes.f' in Windows or Dos packages or it is a file
in Visual Fortran's library.
There is no Linux version and version for a free compiler, so
maybe ADAPTII use some commercial library. Sorry for my guess :)
Good luck
Guangli
[I just looked at the installadapt file I have and didn't see a
reference to bayes.f. I still haven't been able to install on Mac OS
X ;-( but it's been a while since I tried. From memory, missing
graphic functions seemed to be my biggest problem. - db]

Dear Lu and David,
I am sorry that my guess is wrong. There is no bayes.f in DF.
ADAPTII (Windows version) does not contain this file yet. So ADAPTII
(Windows version) does not use this file.
If I were Lu, I shall remove the lines which contain 'bayes.f'
in the 'installadapt' file and try again.
Good luck,
Guangli

Hi, Guangli,
Thank you for the pointers. I have received the bayes.f file from
ADAPT II
author, Dr. David D'Argenio. I thought I'd put a note on this forum for
future reference in case anyone else may encounter the same issue.
Lu
