Dear friends,
We would like to do a bioavailability study of chymotripsin. Because
it is an enzyme present naturaly in our digestive system we face
difficulties in designing the study.
what is meant by armor unit in which chymotipsin is represented?
please give your valuable inputs
with thanx and regards,
muhiyideen

Hi,
For the definition of Armour Unit see:
http://www.biochemj.org/bj/066/0342/0660342.pdf
The Effects of Proteolytic Enzymes on the Hyaluronic
Acid Complex of Ox Synovial Fluid
By B. S. BLOOMBERG* AND A. G. GORTON
Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford
One Armour unit, assayed by the method of Anson (1938), gives in 10
min. at 25C, colour equivalent to 1 ug. of tyrosine.
As to the question of the bioavailability of chymotrypsin, there is a
1963 paper in Nature
http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v199/n4895/abs/199815a0.html
that might be relevant.

Jim Peggins
