Dear All
I would like know, What are the CYP enzymes present in rats? If any
reference is available please let me know.
Thanking you

I have attached a good source: Martignoni et al., 2006, Expert Opin.
Drug Metab. Toxic., 8-44 (a lot of citations are included in the
chapter). [Sorry no attachment - db]

Hi,
You can find long list of Rat CYP info from BD's website. Here is the
link. We buy all our enzymes from them. Good luck!

A very good resource for CYPs across species is David Nelson's
website (http://drnelson.utmem.edu/CytochromeP450.html)
Here is the link to the rat isoforms
http://drnelson.utmem.edu/UNIGENE.RAT.html
You will find that the rat genome has 88 P450 genes and 69 P450
pseudogenes. This is more information than you most probably need.
I have to ask whether the question that you are asking is "What are
the CYP isoforms in rat?" or "Will the rat metabolize my compound in
the same manner that a human does?" These are very different
questions. Answering the first question does not answer the second
question.

Dear Nil,
You could have a look at www.rivm.nl/interspeciesinfo

Mark is right in asking what is the concern for your request. There
are some very elegant papers that have been summarized on David
Nelson's site that allow you to compare orthologues between various
species. But the specific comparative orthologue may not necessarily
indicate a direct correlation between those CYPs responsible for the
metabolic processing of a compound. Its a bit more complex than
that. People also tend to use isolated/expressed enzymes to
determine specific pathways, remember that CYP450 is an enzyme, that
in most cases, if fed a substrate will eat it... not unlike a
teenager with a pizza.
