Hello, members:
I have a question regarding the sterilization of drug solution in
cell culture. The drug is used to stimulate the Caco-2 cells for 1
day to 10 days in the medium. The drug powder is dissolved in 100%
ethanol (no control of sterilization), then the rest steps (dilute to
certain concentrations and prepare doses) are sterile. My concern is
if the sterilization of the drug solution in 100% ethanol by syringe
filter is absolutely necessary, because of several disadvantages:
larger volume needed, filter adsorption, and solvent vaporization,
etc. There are antibiotics in the medium. Please share your
experience in the matter. Thanks.
