Unique PK-PD modeling platform in The Netherlands
9 challenging research positions available
PK-PD Modeling platform
Prof. dr. Meindert Danhof heads the "TI Pharma mechanism-based PK-PD
modeling platform". This platform is a collaborative effort of four
academic partners: the University of Leiden, the University of
Groningen, the University Medical Center of Utrecht, the Erasmus
Medical Center and six pharmaceutical companies: Eli Lilly, Johnson &
Johnson, GSK, Nycomed, Organon and Pfizer. Unique to this platform is
sharing of databases for the purpose of mechanism-based PK-PD modeling.
Our Aim
The platform provides a scientific basis for rational drug discovery
and development with a strong focus on priority medicines as defined
by WHO.
Our challenges are to:
1) develop mechanism-based PK-PD models to characterize and predict
disease progression
2) predict the effects of ageing on the clinical response to
essential drugs
3) create a translational research framework for the extrapolation of
preclinical to clinical and epidemiological findings.
In addition, we will create a repository using existing (pre-)
clinical data from the different partners to support the evaluation of
important clinical and scientific questions.
