Hello -
Thanks in advance for assistance with this question.
Where can I find information regarding which protein a drug is bound to
in order to determine if it displaces another?
I understand there are multiple proteins and multiple sites on a
protein. Just because they are both protein bound does not mean one
will diplace the other - unless they complete directly for the same
binding site. Or one creates a conformational change, resulting in
decreased binding for the other.
The two medications I am interested in are bupropion (84% bound) and
bupivacaine (95% bound). They can both cause seizures. I am interested
to know if they compete for the same sites or it either would displace
the other. The patient had other risk factors as well.
Thank you!
