Dear colleagues,
Has anyone run across a SAS procedure that can perform
noncompartmental analysis? I'm sure coding one would not be
difficult, but I'd prefer not to reinvent the wheel. Thanks in advance.
Warm Regards,
Mike Dodds

Mike
SAS used to make something called PH Kinetics that did NCA analyis. I
am not sure it is still in production but you might contact them.

Dear Mike
I wonder what 'noncompartmental analysis' you refer to. If you mean a
modeling strategy not based on the notion of compartment, such as Moment
Analysis or even System Analysis, you'll find only a few public
references to SAS macros let's say for convolution or deconvolution
applications. In this case I would suggest you look into R and PKBugs
(part of WinBugs) to get good and accessible modeling alternatives.
But if instead you refer to NCA as estimating AUC, Cmax and terminal
half-life I would be cautious about what you'll get in comparison with a
properly conducted state-space, or compartmental, analysis.
Unfortunately, NCA has become a bandwagon many people jump into without
realizing how little they're getting from their data and how biased they
end up being. Nevertheless you may google the SAS Global Forum (former
SUGI's) or any of the many local SAS Users Groups and you'll find people
posting macros for AUC and Cmax estimation. I would just not do only
that.
Cheers
Luis

Dear Mike Dodds,
You can find SAS macros conducting NCA analysis here.
