Dear All,
We are planning to test (very small) capsules in mice both for for simple stomach release and in enteric protected form.
To gain an idea of when release happens, we will monitor plasma and compare PK with a simple soluble formulation by gavage.
I am, therefore, in the process of selecting some compounds to put in the capsules to allow us to gain a clear impression of how well the system works and the degree to which (if at all) enteric coating works. We will compare the data with the more established rat capsules tested in parallel.
I would be interested in the view of the group on suitable compound/s of general interest that:
have rapid uptake via both gastric and intestinal mucosa
are easily detected in ESI MS
relatively stable in mice (no complications of strain, age sex etc.)
are well absorbed even when incorporated in simple vehicles.
Thanks for your thoughts on this.
Regards
Michael
