We will like to inform the PK scientists at pharmaceutical companies about
studies designed to determine the effect of liver cirrhosis or renal
impairment on PK of drugs. The studies in cirrhotics are conducted in
patients with different degree of liver impairment (Child Pugh A and B, Child
Pugh C patients can be recruited, however they are not stable). Antipyrine or
ICG clearance can also be determined to quantitate the degree of liver
impairment.
The studies in renal impairment are conducted in mild, moderate or severely
impaired patients. Patient on dialysis are also available if needed. These
studies are conducted at University of Miami. Additional information on these
