Hi,
I wrote to you since I am not sure how to broadcast a question through
the discussion group. Will you please send it on? [done - db]
I am also in the process of setting up the Abbott-Base program at Sacred
Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. We hope to use it to
predict dosage requirements of Lithium (and other psych drugs) in our
adult psychiatric population. With this population it is often difficult
to get the patient to give you an accurate account of thier outpatient
use. When they are admitted to the hospital we can measure a serum level
of Lithium (as well as height, weight and usually SCr)but most of the
time we really don't know what dosage/schedule they were using prior to
the admission.Does anyone have a suggestion on how to handle the
"outpatient history" when entering these patients into the Bayesian data
base?
I would love to hear from anyone who is using this program(or in the
process of setting it up) and has any input.
Sincerely,
Candace Lodato

I don't use the Abbott-Base program, but one approach which can be
used with other software is to indicate that outpatient and admission
levels may be based on unreliable dosing, permitting the software to
give these points less statistical weight in the fit.

Some MEMS technology could be an answer to reconstruct dosage/schedule
patients were using prior to the admission. I did some simulations for
using this information in a population PK analysis. It showed the PK
parameters were strongly biased if times are ignored. You can have a
look at the paper in one of the last issue of Journal of PK and
Biopharm.
