Hi David,
I would appreciate for you to send the question to the list-serv.
Thanks very much.

Tomas,
The book by Bourne is one that you definitely should have. It provides a
broad coverage of the theory and practice of pharmacokinetics and it includes
a list of available software for pharmacokinetic modeling.
The other book you should have is the Wagner book published in 1993 by the
same publisher as the Bourne book.

Hi Tomas
I hope I replied earlier to you but in case I didn't...
I wrote the book so my opinion may be biased. I could forward your request
to the listserv PharmPK that I run if you like.
I use the book as a text in my graduate/professional course.

Dear Collegue,
With respect to PK/PD books: I have an opinion about 2 books.
The book by David W Bourne, 'Mathematical modeling of Pharmacokinetic
Data' is an excellent book. It is a comprehensive source of very
useful information at an intermediate level, e.g. it is not well
suited as a first reference in PK modeling, and not as the final
solution to all your problems. It contains some typographical errors.
The book refers to the programs of the same author, but the programs
are not essential for the use of the book.
In short, this book can be recommended.
The book by Johan Gabrielsson and Daniel Weiner, 'Pharmacokinetic and
pharmacodynamic data analysis' contains so many errors that for this
reason alone the book should be rejected. At almost every page I
found one or more errors, not only typographical, but also more
serious errors. The fact that some formulas appear at several pages
in different form (correct and erroneous), and some formulas even
appear at more places in the same erroneous form, makes me very
suspicious about the accuracy of the authors. Please note that this
criticism refers to the first edition of 1994. The next edition might
be improved?
For user of the program PCNONLIN, the book may be useful since the
book is actually a partial manual to this program. Users of other
program will have little benefit of the book, since it leans heavily
on the PCNONLIN program. It is really bad that the title of the book
does not refer to PCNONLIN, so the potential buyer knows what he can
expect.
In short, I regret the purchase of this book.

Dr. Bourne's book: Mathematical Modeling of Pharmacokinetic Data is an
excellent reference for anyone doing PK analyses. I highly recomend

Hello Tomas,
A PK book that I strongly recommend, mainly for its superior readability and
example problems (with answers provided), is Applied Biopharmaceutics and
Pharmacokinetics by Shargel and Yu. In my opinion this is the best PK book
available for teaching purposes.
