Dear Dr. Steven Martin:
I have experience with the technique of isolated perfused rat kidney (IPK)
under filtered and nonfiltered conditions.
The isolated rat kidney can be perfused by buffer perfusate or the
perfusate that consisted of 20 % washed, fresh bovine red blood cells and
bovine serum albumin (BSA). The latter one is preferred. The renal
filtration can be stopped by increasing the concentration of BSA. The key
step of the IPK is the surgery, which should be completed within 10-15
min, and the preparation of perfusate.
If you want to know any detail information of the technique, I can be
contacted at Tel: 416-752-3636 ext. 292 or e-mail: wanping.-at-.interlog.com.
good luck!
Wanping Geng, Ph.D.
