We are trying to dose ropivacaine in blood using mass spectography (HP), but
our technicians meet a lot of problem.
Could anyone give me advices?
Would we change to less sensitive methods?

All techniques used for assaying other LAs (bupivacaine,...) are perfect.
Liquid extraction followed by GC with a nitrogen specific detector is the
best with a limit of detection of about 10 ng/ml
HPLC after solid phase extraction and UV detection at 210 nm is also possibl=
e.
Anton Burm from Netherlands knows perfectly all these problems.

There is very clean HPLC assay for amide type LAs (bupivacaine and
mepivacaine). Michaelis, H.C., W.P. Geng, G.F. Kahl, and H. Foth:
Sensitive determination of bupivacaine in human plasma by HPLC. J.
Chromatogr. 527:201-207, 1990. Good luck.
