Can anyone direct me in the right direction to find out what effect Halothane
might have on Rat Metabolism / PK / CYP450 Activity. Is it a good
idea to use
halothane, If not why not. ?

Dear Anton:
I do not recommend that you use halothane if you are going to
do a simple enzyme induction experiment, because halothane is
believed to induce hepatic injury by (probably) forming radicals,
by its metabolic activation(1). In addition, halothane metabolism
shows sex-specific differences, and concentration dependent
kinetics possibly due to inactivation of metabolic enzymes(2).
This may make data interpretation difficult.
Nevertheless of that, if you really want to clarify detailed
effects of halothane, I have a feeling that there are many
scientific activities to be done in that field. Good Luck.
