Is there a site management organization (SMO) in the US that specializes in
recruiting renal impairment patients for pharmacokinetic studies? Thanks Nik

Hi Nik--
Our academic center has numerous patients with varying degrees of
renal insufficiency and ~ 350 patients receiving chronic hemodialysis
available for clinical research studies. Please contact me at

We have been coordinating and managing studies in renal impairment patients
for the past six years. We have access to three sites in Florida for these
studies. Two sites are private Phase I units and the third site is a clinical
pharmacology research unit in an academic center. We conduct 6-8 studies
every year. The studies usually require 8 patients in each category (Mild,
Moderate and Severe Renal Impairment) and 8 normal healthy controls. Some
studies require one to one matching.
Our sites have existing databases for these patients and additional patients
are recruited through networking with area physicians who treat these
patients. Our investigators have access to dialysis units and thus patients
on hemodialysis can also be recruited if needed. We will be glad to provide
additional information on our past experience and capabilities in this area.
