Hello all:
Does anyone know of oncology centers experienced in performing clinical PK
studies? We would like to obtain PK data on the combination of
chemotherapeutic
agents with our drug in patients. How about Georgetown's Center for Drug
Development Science ... might Carl Peck and others there be able to recommend
excellent PK sites?

Dan:
The University of Southern California operates a number of PK services for
clinical oncology studies.
Dr. Robert T. Koda (rtkoda.at.hsc.usc.edu) is in charge of the Clinical PK Core
Unit of the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, and he would be delighted in
discussing your needs in greater detail.
My own laboratory is devoted to noninvasive pharmacokinetic studies, where w=

measure drugs (and their metabolites) at their target sites using both
nuclear imaging methods and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS). Most of
our work has been measuring the tumoral pharmacokinetics of anticancer drugs=

There are two other resources very closely linked to both our activities: th=

Please let me know what you are interested in, so that we can discuss

Dan,
I guess that you prefer a US site but if Europe is of interest, an=20
excellent and
experienced site for oncology PK studies in patients is located in Uppsala,
Sweden. Uppsala University Hospital has an Oncology Drug Study Centre
specialised in early oncology trials with extensive PK /clinical pharmacolog=

experience (population PK/PD).
In the US, Quintiles (a CRO) has several sites running PK oncology trials. I=

Dear Dan Combs:
If you can work in the UK we are a experienced industrial Clinical
Pharmacology CRO literally next door to a regional oncology
centre in Guildford, 25 miles SW of central London. We are
currently doing a first dose to man oncology-Pk study for a UK
biotech company and two others in Phase 2 oncology for
multinational clients. I am an MD but my partner Graham Mould is
a well known PK expert in UK/Europe. In oncology we work with
the University of Surrey and the new Professor of (especially
gynae) Oncology, Hilary Thomas. Another current study is a first
dose to man of a monoclonal antibody for a client from California,
so we are accustomed to US standards of data collection and
handling.
We have a website at http://www.gcpl.co.uk if you would like a bit
more information about us.
All the best
Andrew Sutton

Dear Dan
We have had quite a bit of experience in performing PK studies for
cancer studies. They present slightly different problems. difficult
cannulation, sickness common, other medications, etc. Contact
us if you need.
