Dear All,
Does anyone know the concentration of cortisone in SD rat circulating system? I know the plasma
concentration of cortisone in human is very low and constant (around 20~30 ng/mL), but I cannot find
any references about cortisone in rat plasma. It will be very appreciated that someone can show me
the data with references. Many thanks!
Best,
Jian

Long time since I checked but back in my PhD days, we measured corticosterone (not cortisol) as a
stress hormone because rats do not produce cortisol. There should be plenty of references for
corticosterone in the literature but not sure if method results in significant variations in basal
levels. We used an old fluorescence method using serum and lower range was 10-20 ug/dL.

Dear Keith,
Thanks for your response. It seems that both cortisone and cortisol are absent in rat.
