     MRT and MAT stand for 'Mean Residence Time' and 'Mean Absorption
     Time', respectively.

     As to the reference, I would recommend a paper by Purves:

     Purves, R. D. Optimum numerical integration methods for estimation
of
     area-under-the-curve (AUC) and area-under-the-moment-curve (AUMC).
     Journal of Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmaceutics. 1992;
20(3):211-226.

     and also the articles cited therein. You may find also a useful
     discussion in our review:
