Does anyone have information about the pharmacokinetics of intravenous
ethamsylate (also referred to as etamsylate or Dicynone)? We have used
it for a patient with extensive small vessel bleeding post-operatively.
Bleeding was unresponsive to DDAVP, Aminocaproic acid, FFP, etc. His
estimated GFR is about 40 - 50 mL/min. Information on fraction of drug
excreted unchanged renally, and half-life of elimination would greatly
assist with initial dosing.
