Is there any other way to cleave sulfate groups from sulfated steroids,
alcohols or phenols present in plasma than by using the enzyme arylsulfatase ?
Is arylsulfatase the only commersially available enzyme which can do this ?
Is there any other company that produces arylsulfatase except Boehringer-
Mannheim (and Sigma which sells it in combination with beta-glucuronidases).

Sulphate esters can also be cleaved by solvolysis. This reaction is
mediated by an attack on the ester linkage by solvents such as
diethylether. This subject is covered extensively in the book
"Sulfation of drugs and related compounds"by Gerard J Mulder, CRC
press, 1981, Florida on pages 15-18 and also under sections dealing
with specific compounds.
