To all,
Any recommendations for a "helpful" book to use with
WinNonlin? I find the manual less than useful.
Thanks!

Yes, there is another book to use with WinNonlin. It's particularly
good if you are looking for examples of PK & PD analysis.
"Pharmacokinetic & Pharmacodynamic Data Analysis, Concepts &
Applications" by Johan Gabrielsson & Daniel Weiner
Swedish Pharmaceutical Press, 1994
There is a newer edition available now.

The manual does have its weak points, but the support people are excellent.
Just email SCI at 75450.3171.-a-.compuserve.com if you are having problems and
you will find them very helpful.

I would recommend J. Gabrielsson and Dan Weiner's "Pharmacokinetic and
Pharmacodynamic Data Analysis: Concepts and Applications", SECOND EDITION,
Swedish Pharmaceutical Press, 1997. It is very closely tied to WinNonLin
and has excellent examples. From my reading thus far, many typographical
errors present in the first edition have been corrected.

Annelies,
You did not indicate which aspect of WinNonlin was giving you trouble.
If it is the modeling component, you may find the following book
helpful:
Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamic Data Analysis: Concepts and
Applications
by Johan Gabrielsson and Daniel Weiner
2nd Edition
Swedish Pharmaceutical Press, Stockholm Sweden.
The book is $70.00 US and may be ordered through SCI/Pharsight. Further
information may be obtained from their website:

I think the textbook Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Data
Analysis: Concepts and Applications
by Johan Gabrielsson and Daniel Weiner (isbn 91 8627 469 4)
is helpful.
If I remeber right, the examples of the online help were helpful too.

I have found the support available by phone to be very helpful. Once you
get the "feel" it seems more friendly. Remember it is a windows 3.1 program
running in windows 95 environment.
If you have questions, e-mail or call -- I will let you the little I know
(PS I started with NonLin when you had to write a FORTRAN routine to submit
to the program & I started then to use SAS Nlin because of the
frustration-Then I wrote a program in basic that worked well for a while but
the new windows environment make life so much simpler in conditioning the
data before analysis) The interactive WinNonLin version is my Main
P'kinetic program now (PS The FDA Readily accepts NonLin otherwise you may
have to document your program with a test data set & compare to NonLin
